Calling all Cat/ Dog Owners and Networkers
Calling Cat/Dog Lovers and Business People
Having
had Old English Sheepdogs for many years and living in the
mountains/country away from the city, I soon became very aware of the
problem of parasites.
Because of the warm year round climate in Spain you also have a year-round problem, of Fleas and worse
still, Sheep Ticks.
One year, not long
ago, my dog Junior kept biting himself on the lower back close to his tail.
He clearly had an irritation there, despite wearing a Flea
collar. It got so bad that I had to take him to the vet as he had a nasty
infection now on his lower back from
biting himself.
The vet said that it was some kind of allergy and that he
had to run some expensive tests that resulted in me buying expensive dog
shampoo that achieved nothing.
Then, not satisfied with the advice of the vet, I sought a
second opinion at another vet
who just repeated the diagnosis of the first vet, without
offering any solution or remedy at large cost of money and time to me.
It seems they didn’t
want to cure the problem, they just wanted me to come back and keep paying there
expensive veterinary fees.
In the meantime, I asked my son Pablo to clean the dog’s
wound as I was busy working at the office. To his horror, when he lifted a
wedge of hair on Junior’s back he saw a mass of writhing maggots! Poor dog!!
We cleaned up Junior with hot water and disinfectant but the
infection was hard to beat, mainly because unless we put the satellite cone on
Junior’s head he would start biting himself again!
It wasn’t until I met David, the manager at Royfonte Kennels (which
recently burned down in the forest fire) that he told me that Junior had
allergy to fleas and that when he was bitten by Fleas, this was the start of
the problem, and he would start to continually bite the area that was bitten.
He suggested that I use these pipettes ( like Frontline)
that you drop on their necks once a month.
This offered a temporary solution to the problem. Junior
stopped getting bitten by Fleas and stopped biting himself. However, I have recently learned that these pipettes
are highly poisonous and can actually kill a dog or cat with extended use. To
add insult to injury these pipettes are also quite expensive for a 45 Kilo dog!
Why is it that any medicine or treatment for a dog costs
about 10 times the amount for the human equivalent? I believe it is just
shameless profiteering!
Anyway, the solution is here! It takes the shape of Pet Protector.
